In the final games of the Schools Rugby Tri Nations Series New Zealand and The Australian Schools Barbarians ran out the winners
New Zealand Schools defeated the Australian Schools boys team by 34-11 in a dominant performance, where NZ ran in three tries in the last 10 minutes
Australia had defended strongly to keep the score at 17-11 with less than 15 minutes to go when NZ used their great amount of territory and possession to score three quick tries .
The Fiji v Australian Schools Barbarians game was a thriller--close to full time Australia led 18-17. Fiji got a penalty goal to go ahead to 20- 18.
Fiji had a chance to close this off when they got a penalty right on full time to fully secure the game.
However the kick at goal fell just a few metres short–Australia fielded the ball and with some strong attack worked their way back down field into Fijian territory where they got penalty–which they kicked to win the game 21-20.
A great effort by the Australian Schools Barbarians and a great disappointment to the Fijians who appeared to have the game won.
