The Australian Schools and Under 18 Team ran out clear winners on a wet, but firm artificial surface in Dublin–scoring three tries to one.
The first try came from strong attacking work on the Irish line early in the game–with our forwards showing their strength in the rucks and scrums.
The wet conditions contributed to a number of errors by both sides. However Ireland got a try through their forwards to level at 5-5.
Australia looked impressive when they were able to run their backs and one sweeping move led to a try to make it 10-5 late in the second half.
Ireland controlled a lot of territory and had two attempts at penalty goals which went astray.
Ireland started the second half strongly and it was 15 minutes before Australia got into their territory. Shortly after doing this Australia were able to mount an impressive backline attack to score and convert
Australia had the better of the remaining time and held their good lead until full time.
