Welcome New President, Tim Cleary for ASRU
After 27 years at the helm, Br Bob Wallace has stepped aside for new President of Australian Schools Rugby Union, Mr Tim Cleary.
Br Wallace had a fitting farewell dinner during a weekend of busy meetings for ASRU. He says “ It is time for me to retire and let the new President run with the ball.” Br Wallace was appointed as a Life member and Co–Patron at the dinner. A number of international attendees and past Australian schools’ players attended the dinner including the famous 1977 team.
Mr Cleary said in his incoming President’s speech the new mantra should be one of shared wisdom and collaboration – not one of isolation and stagnation.
“Our hope is to provide worthwhile Rugby experiences at the school level in each Australian state that will support teams beyond school gates, as well as the National Schools team.”
Chair of Rugby Australia, Cameron Clyne also was in attendance representing the ongoing collaboration with ASRU.
